As The World Turns is apparently getting crap from the American Family Association about a male/male storyline and kiss scene and so they're doing a poll to see how the general public feels about this.  I called, and if you're interested, here's the number.  It took me two (half-awake) minutes, mostly because I had to find some bars in my dorm room.

saw Step Up 2, made fun of it (it wasn't quite as horrible as the first, mainly because the male protagonist was hotter).
went to B&N afterwards to get some drinks
...realized that it was past 9 so the mall was closed and thus the gate was shut at the mall entrance of B&N
...walked around the mall to get to my car.

Did I mention it was raining?  Yeah, none of us were prepared, but it still completely rocked.  Awesome night.



Only bummer point?  I checked and my WMST class only has 13 enrolled out of 30.  Hopefully it will make.  Does anyone know what the minimum for making a class is?

Screaming out "OH, SHIT!" (or something like that) in your silent lecture class isn't the best idea.

Getting 140 death glares from the rest of your (ominously) silent classmates makes it even worse.

Hawkeye and I were going down the main drag in our town when she tried to adjust the visor and it won't go back.  I looked up (to the right) to see why and explain that it's because I have a (fairly useless) CD holder in my visor so it won't go.

I barely got the words (maybe) out when we hit the curb going 35 miles an hour.  With the front tire.  Curb + Tire + 35 mi hour = fail. 

We didn't realize this at the time.  We went quiet for a few seconds to see if the car was going to do anything and nothing happened, so we kept going, REALLY AWAKE NOW.

Then we heard the thumping and I slowed the car down to about 20, put on my hazard lights and began to search frantically for a side street we could turn on so I wouldn't get rear-ended.  Amazingly, just before the tire completely wiped out, we found one and I barely pulled on it before turning the car off and calling AAA and then freaking out.

So now everything feels very surreal.  It doesn't help that there's not much good fic up and that my room is a helluva lot emptier than it was before.


I think I'm going to play around on amazon.com for awhile.

My goal for today is to finish (most of) my advertising project and to take my five parts home.  Some of those things are in IKEA bags, which will be needed for more moving out.  I haven't really dusted that much, but you can walk around and completely push the door against the wall so I consider that to be a success.  Also, Neville's still alive and kicking (and he started spinning in his little food-bowl last night) so that is a success as well.

My desk looks really empty but my room looks really clean.  And dusty.  And my to do list is getting smaller.

Apparently Gary Dourdan is leaving CSI, William Petersen is signing on for next year but limited episodes, but Marg Helgberger  and George Eads are signing back on for, like a normal amount of time.  I don't know, I kind of wish they'd let it end with a bang rather than slowly removing original cast and putting in new ones.  Oh, well, I'm hoping it will lead to more Greg time.

Of course, it's doing better than Scrubs, which is currently acting like a half-dead swimmer and barely staying afloat.

Cloverfield comes out tomorrow.

Three weeks to move out day and I feel rather accomplished on that  front.  Not so much on the ad project.

I'm feeling incredibly accomplished, probably because I printed out about 25-30 pages worth of documents for psych and lit.  And I wrote a pain in the ass mini-paper over matriarchal societies.  Yeah.  Because there are so many.  (but apparently there was this queen called Candace of Meron (?) who defeated Alexander the Great, although they're not sure that that wasn't made up.  go wikipedia, go.)

I have come to the realization that I am more productive in the evenings and that I really don't want to have to pack up and move because it takes so much time.  Although my desk area looks much cleaner.  Also, my to-do list has gotten shorter.  Whee.  (but it isn't really a to-do list as much as it is a daily planner)

I suppose I'll work on my ad project a bit more and then quit (and by work I mean in the blank for "pulsing", I'll write No).

Incidentally, the guy two floors up got a drum set and I can hear his cymbals crashing from my laptop with music going.  I'm dying to ask him about it but I have refrained so far.

Three and a half weeks left of school and though I'm glad that it's almost over, I'm really going to miss the "dorm bubble" as it was put.  I suppose that's why I'm taking a summer class, to have something to do as well as stay home.  Unless I get a job.  Yeah, right.  The likelihood of that happening is slim right now.

The racing stripes on my phone are falling off.  This wouldn't be a bad if they didn't keep the back and the front on.

Interestingly enough, the aesthetic design on the back is sticking rather nicely.  I have also changed its name from Jesus Phone (which, though catchy, might be the straw that breaks the camel's back on my smiting) to Pride from Candace's suggestion.

I love my brother, but this is the kind of thing that is annoying about him.  At this point in my life, I neither need nor want a boyfriend.  If one happens to come along, great!  But I'm not going to go searching around and dating crap guys to find someone.  I am just fine on my own and usually I prefer just hanging out with my friends without any strings attached.  I'm perfectly happy being independent and, don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on anyone who's in a relationship now, it's just not really for me at this stage in my life.

There's a secret on fandomsecrets today that really struck me: "I hate/loathe/abhor when people spell characters' names wrong...  do some damn RESEARCH.  Seriously.  Not that hard."

I completely agree.  Why do I have closed-captioning on my TV?  Well, for starters, I prefer to read than listen.  I retain more information.  But also? I know how to spell all of the characters' names that I talk and write about.  I read a post the other day in which a name was misspelled several times and wanted to either shoot myself or reach through the monitor and slap them silly on the site.  I know some of it is due to translation errors (in subtitling), but freakin' wikipedia that shit if you're going to talk about it.
